This photo was taken on the night of 9th June 2006 in our farewell dinner. This became the last year for many of us in our Society, including me. The photo captured our Executive Committee Members of the Chinese Society for the academic year 2005/2006. From right to left: Wei Fen, Carmen, Rachel, Amanda, Winnie, I, and Shen Li.
Overall, I could say that we have been fairly good team and we have worked together quite well. Some of us did not have specific duty within the Committee but they are always willing to help whenever we need and they always know their duties. Some of us, however, did have the specific role in the Society. Carmen was an essential person who facilitated the communication between our Society and the Leicester University Malaysian Society and many jointly organised events between us became successful due to her efforts.
Winnie, a pretty girl, was our treasurer who controlled our society's budgets and always reported to us of our financial situation. Although she mainly dealt with monies, no one can overlook her ability in recruiting some new members for our Society. Her ability was well-demonstrated in the Freshers' Fair. It was always nice sitting nearby her at our stall and seeing how she managed to approach the prospective customers for our 'Chinese New Year Ball' ticket.
Shen Li was our President. He has been with our Society for sometimes. Indeed, I have seen him since my first year in the Society while at that time I was just one ordinary member. He competently used his experiences to organise our Society so it was smoothly run throughout the year.
After finishing our farewell dinner that night, we proceeded to Kya's house. Kya was also one of our Executive Committee Members. He is the guy with the glasses on the back. The purpose of us for visiting his house was to get our 'uniform'. This was the very first year for all of us to get our uniform although it is more like a souvenir since, by then, it was the end of term so we have no more chance to wear this uniform in our event or for our work.
Overall, I can only say that my experiences as part of a team in the Chinese Society have proved to be impressive with friendship I have received from many friends and with good colleagues I should cherish. I am not sure whether in the future I will be able to work with any team as good as this one! More like a dream, I just hope that we will be able to reunite and work as a team together again in the future. Thanks all of you to give me such a valuable time while I am in Leicester!
Thanks especially to Rachel who sent me these photos!
